From Kathmandu to Pokhra passing through animal sanctuaries of Chitwan

Day 1
Europe / Kathmandu
Flight to Kathmandu.
Day 2
Arrival at Kathmandu
Welcome and transfer to the hotel & installation in the rooms. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3
Kathmandu
American breakfast. Depart to PATAN (or LALITPUR), city of golden roofs of the Malla dynasty. PATAN accounts for innumerable richly sculpted Jain temples and many Hindu temples: * The Royal Fountain. * The Royal Palace, with the statue of Hanuman “the monkey-God ", and a terrifying form of Vishnu. * The KRISHNA Temple. One of the most beautiful constructed in the XVIII century. * The Temple of Thousand Buddhas. The effigy of Buddha is reproduced on every brick and one can count close to nine thousand. * The Khumbswar pagoda, not as beautiful as the one in Bhadgaon, but one of the last ones with five roofs.

In the afternoon Visit of KATHMANDU, capital of NEPAL, the name of which is derived from Kasta Mandap, which signifies " temple of wood " in Newari : The Royal Palace square, The HANUMAN DHOKA square (ancient royal palace ), The KUMARI BAHAL Palace or Temple of the Living Goddess, infant-God chosen at the age of around 4 to 5 years from a precise caste , for a body without deformation… coming out only for certain religious ceremonies. Next visit to SWAYAMBUNATH ( 3 km from Kathmandu) spiritual place of the valley, where the stupa is encircled by a chaitya forest is not only one of the most beautiful in Nepal but also one of the most popular and sacred places of pilgrimage. The building contains ancient relics and documents and all around it there are prayer mills which the faithful turn on their rotating axis. But Swayambunath is not only a Buddhist sanctuary. In fact, a small temple is dedicated to Sitala, “Nepalese goddess of verole ".Magnificent view of the city and its surrounding villages. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 4
Kathmandu / Chitwan
American breakfast. Departure for the CHITWAN reserve, in the TERAI region on the southern tropical border of NEPAL. The Chitwan reserve is the ancient hunting reserve of the kings of Nepal. Here we find the famous white rhinoceros, deer, antelopes, monkeys, tigers, leopards and more than 300 species of birds. Arrival at CHITWAN. Continuation by Jeep towards the ISLAND JUNGLE RESORT. Lunch and Installation at the hotel. Introduction to the reserve, briefing on the activities, and rides in the jungle, the next morning. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 5
Chitwan Full Board
American breakfast. Walk in the Chitwan reserve. Departure early in the morning on the back of an elephant or by jeep for a ride through the jungle, or you can discover the flora and fauna in Chitwan. Return to your lodge. Lunch. In the afternoon, a short walk, around your lodge. At nightfall, departure for another safari. The colours, the shadows have changed; the animals are much more approachable. Return to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 6
Chitwan / Pokhra
American breakfast. Departure by road for POKHRA, the city nearest to the ANNAPURNA, (summit conquered by Maurice HERZOG). Discovery of the exceptional panoramic view of the mountains which encircle it. Arrival at POKHRA and transfer to hotel. Boat ride on the Phewa lake, with the Annapurna chain of mountains in the background. Overrnight at hotel.
Day 7
Pokhra
American breakfast. Visit of the small city of Pokhra, almost cut-off from the world until the construction of a road a few years ago. It is one of the most visited cities.It is also from Pokhra that a large number of people go trekking towards the mountains. Afternoon free for discovering the small city, its handicrafts, its small temples, the way the villagers live has not changed since centuries. You can also visit the village lake. Overnight hotel.

Day 8
Pokhra / Kathmandu (200 km)
American breakfast. Departure for Kathmandu. On the way you will discover many small villages, beautiful landscapes, luxurious valleys and farmers living and working as in the medieval age. Arrival and installation at the hotel. Overnight.
Day 9

Kathmandu
American breakfast. Departure by bus for an excursion to BHADGAON (or BHAKTAPUR), the most beautiful city in the valley which has managed to conserve a medieval touch. Ancient capital of the valley, it is an immense village, which has conserved its small palaces, temples and superb houses. Visit to the temple of Natapola, the highest in Nepal, constructed in 1708. This temple contains a large number of statues, and five superimposed rooftops. Stopover at the Pashupatinath temple, dedicated to Shiva. It is the most sacred temple in Nepal. Promenade in the Dattatreya quarters which holds many houses belonging to the medieval period. We go on towards the PASHUPATHINATH city, one of the most sacred in the country, a city of pilgrimage on the banks of the river Bagmati where a large number of pilgrims purify themselves by bathing in the river . One catches sight of the “Golden Temple” forbidden to non Hindus, and also the cremation fires burning all along the river. Afternoon free for last-minute shopping. Overnight.
Day 10
Kathmandu / Europe
American Breakfast. Morning free for optional excursions to Nagarkot or Dhulikhel to see the Himalayas, etc etc or mountain flights over the Himalayas Free time for last minute shopping. According to flight timings transfer to airport for flight to Europe.
